Glaming up the old

Right back to the blog, I have been terrible starting this up but I intend to keep it going, things have been very hectic, with university applications, live briefs at college and portfolio work, I will be uploading images of this work, but for now I would like to share a tiny little project I did over xmas. Well I had this old frumpy ballet style cardigan top in my wardrobe that I have had for years and years. Well it was time to glam it up a little.

So I bought a pretty cord of feathers online (they were reasonably priced too) as well as a nice black braid to attach the cord of feathers too. The idea is to place them over the thick collar with poppers so the glam feathers are detachable (washing purposes).

So this is the result; an old cardigan transformed into something new. It was fun to do however it was a lot more time consuming than expected, the poppers took a while to sew on. I wore it out once while I was on holiday in Greece over the xmas break.

A fellow fashion student friend modeling the top for me, she mentioned that the feathers covering the collar made her feel like she was a bird with a breast of feathers. Interesting, I liked the idea that the garment created an emotion when being worn.
